Problem Statement: A company is facing declining sales. How to improve the sales?

Here's how critical thinking can be applied to solve this problem:

Observation: The first step is to observe and understand the problem. You notice that the sales have been declining for the past three quarters. You gather all relevant data such as sales figures, customer feedback, market trends, and competitor activities.

Analysis: Next, you analyze the data. You notice that while the overall market for your product is growing, your company's market share is shrinking. You also notice that negative customer feedback has increased about quality of the products and Google star rating is decreasing.

Synthesis: You then synthesize this information to form a more complete understanding. You hypothesize that the decline in sales might be due to quality issues that are causing customers to switch to competitors.

Inference: Based on your analysis and synthesis, you infer that improving product quality could potentially increase sales. However, you also consider other possible solutions such as increasing marketing efforts, adjusting pricing, or expanding to new markets.

Communication: You communicate your findings and proposed solutions to the company's leadership team. You present the data clearly and concisely, explain your reasoning, and answer any questions.

Problem Solving: Based on your critical thinking process and the feedback from the leadership team, you decide to implement a quality improvement program. You also decide to monitor customer feedback more closely and make adjustments as necessary.
